Once again I seem to have left it for ages before updating this - life just never stands still, does it! We have been enjoying a very pleasant winter so far - the days are mostly mild and only occasionally chilly - certainly in the early mornings and evenings though our heating is resolutely on as the houses really are built to keep the heat out, not in! Now that we have acclimatised to the usual heat, this winter does feel cooler to us than the last even though the temperatures still hover around the late teens and early twenties and the sky remains blue.
What have we been up to in the past couple of weeks? Well, it was Ally's turn for Man of the Match last Saturday where he also enjoyed a stint as captain against the most difficult team in the league. He has also registered for the World Masters in October, which he and we are really looking forward to, and in addition is running in the City to Surf next month. My fitness definitely paling in comparison, I have at least now joined the local gym!
I enjoyed a nice trivia evening up at the school with a bunch of new (fellow Mum) friends last Saturday - our team was the 'Desperate Housewives' so we glammed up for the occasion and had a lovely time. We came 3rd last out of 20 so clearly what they say about your brains disappearing with the onset of children must be true... still, we had a great laugh and throughly enjoyed the gourmet pizzas and wine on offer!
Katy and William have been doing well at school - Katy had an article published in the Sydney magazine for all the schools in the area (much to her embarrassment but our pride!) and Tom has been proudly telling everyone he can that he can now spell his name "T - O - M"! Katy and I went to a superb garage sale today while the boys were at soccer - a rich lady who had come from a huge house has recently moved to our street and had a garage full of gorgeous antiques and other items to sell - she did her first garage sale last weekend and then another one this weekend. Last weekend we bought Katy a gorgeous bed for only $30 and a lovely chair too, and this weekend we went back and she recognised us - and gave Katy a lovely doll in a basket for free!!! She has a lovely antique dresser I have my eye on but I am waiting for her to drop the price a little...
Only one more week of school and then two week's holidays.... can't wait as Ally is going to take a week off too for a few day trips and local exploration! It's hard to believe that one year ago tomorrow we were leaving the UK (after lovely meal, family get-together and strawberry picking at Kim and Martin's) - can we really have been here a year already???!!!!!
