We started the school holidays off in style today with a trip to the Aquatic Centre at the Sydney Olympic Park, a huge complex with facilities for all water sports and including a 10 lane, 50 metre competition pool (with movable bulkheads for 25 metre short course), a 50 metre training pool and a 33 x 25 metre utility pool with facilities for water polo, diving and synchronised swimming.
It even features a fantastic water playground for the kids, including a rapid river ride, bubbling beach fountains and spurting volcanoes - and this is where we were destined to spend a fun-filled, soggy afternoon, with much-enjoyed hot chips in the cafe afterwards!
