Dads and sons and lots of soccer!

Last weekend truly belonged to Ally : footballer, coach and Dad extraordinaire!

Not only was it Fathers Day here in Australia on Sunday (so we made him smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast, and he was inundated with HEAPS of lovely homemade pressies from the kids) - but it was also the soccer 'presentation weekend' marking the very end of the season and the culmination of several months of efforts.

Saturday evening saw the presentation night for the Wahroonga Tigers adult sides - down at the local bowling club. Copious drinks and nibbles were consumed before the three awards for each team were handed out. The best of these awards was the 'Players Player of the Year' which was won in the Over 35s category by none other than my good man himself! The presenter of the award said some wonderful things about Ally's skill, attitude and contribution so I glowed with pride, and Ally of course was in his element!

Sunday, after the Fathers Day breakfast and present-giving, saw the junior Wahroonga Tigers' soccer presentation - they held it in the hall and grounds of a local school and had, in typical Aussie style, laid on lots of entertainment - pony rides, bouncy castles (a Tiger castle, and a Tiger slide, of course), a bbq, icecreams etc. At this age, all the boys/girls get a trophy, so William was very proud to get one to match his Dad's (second pic was this morning before school!!) and Ally was very proud of all his boys (as he was their coach this year)

The weather was beautiful so we stayed out for most of the day - enjoying a picnic and the lovely cake that had been made for William's U7s 'black' team. Ally was given wine and a lovely card from the boys for being their coach, and we returned home at tea-time, stopping for hot chicken and chips on the way home.
