As we are all off school and work this week, and the sun is shining, we felt a nice day trip was in order. So off we went to Taronga Zoo!
Catching the train into Sydney, then the ferry across the water from Circular Quay, was all part of the fun - not to mention the rather scary and wobbly 'Sky train' which then
took us up the hillside to the zoo's entrance ("bit scaaary" panicked Tom, while the rest of us told him "not to be so silly"...
whilst clutching at our seats). Great views though from there across the harbour...
We only managed to see about half of the animals as the place is huge, but prioritised all the Australian beasts as well as the creepy crawlies as those were top of the kids' interest list. It was very interesting to see what a Funnel Web spider looked like close-up, so we'll know if we come across one in our garden, and the seal show was fantastic - who knew a seal was related to a dog hence the 'woof woof' barking noise they make? Well, we didn't...
Think this poor kangaroo may have had rather a long day...
