Katy's birthday

It's Katy's birthday - I can't believe our little girl is 9 already (where did that time go?) - she is such a grown-up, confident and caring girl though I hardly dare say that for fear it will sometime all go wrong!!!

Yesterday I took her and her friend Olivia to see the theatre production of Disney's High School Musical at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney... we went in on the train and had a lovely time - the girls were up dancing at the end and enjoyed it no end.

Back home again just in time for several more of her friends arriving for a pool party... actually the weather was a little dull but it didn't bother them, they were all straight in the pool, shrieking (why is it that everything sounds louder around water?) and playing on Ally's new dinghy. We got pizza delivered and they bashed a pinata filled with far too many sweets (sorry, 'lollies' as they call them here...) before heading back to their homes around 8pm.

Olivia stayed over (they took over the rumpus room and slept on the big sofa bed, watching DVDs on the home cinema doodar) and helped Katy open her pile of pressies this morning. A beautiful maxi dress and bag from Auntie Catherine, the Guinness Book of Records 3D from Auntie Kim ("can I borrow it?" said William... "please???"), lovely Angel nighties and more from Granna, a really nice silver 'K' necklace from Great Nana, the High School Musical 3 soundtrack from Chris and Julie, High School Musical goodies from Sam and Jon, a lovely top from Louise and loads of goodies from Lucy. A lucky girl indeed...

Main pressie for Katy though... a kitten... due to be chosen on Tuesday this week... hold this space!...
