Woahhhhhhh we have been enjoying some hot, hot, hot weather here in Sydney for the end of the Summer Hols. We've had a trip to the Aquatic Centre in Ryde (several pools, wave machines, huge slides etc), some beach visits (including on Wednesday to Dee Why, for a swim in the Sea pool and icecreams) and today we ventured up to the Australian Reptile Park, about a half an hour drive from here. We met up with Morag, Rhona, Catriona and Robbie for a fun day looking at massive alligators, crocodiles, pythons, and all manner of other Aussie creatures as well as huge spiders..... yeucccch! I had to hold on extra tight to the kids next to this lagoon full of hungry crocs...
We all enjoyed it, particularly seeing Elvis the giant crocodile, apparently one of the largest and most difficult to handle crocodiles in captivity, here with his very brave and relaxed-looking keeper...

The kids had a bit of a soft spot for this giant tortoise too...

It was a really nice day out and it was lovely to catch up with Morag and the kids too.
The weather could have done with being a teensy bit cooler mind you, and the kids were very grateful for the water sprinklers they found to run in and out of at the end of the day!!!
Scary! ... but a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteLovely to hear you got together with Morag and kids .... great for you to have family out there.... give them our love when you next see them......
See you later, alligator! Hugs. Mummy/Granna xx
Wow! That looks fun. Kinda scary too. I hate spiders and couldn't stand it in there. Gulp! The tortosie must have been good fun to stroke and pat! I wouldn't like to meet Elvis the crocidle at night. SNAP SNAP SNAP!
