Time is flying by so fast here - one more week and we will be in to Spring, and yet it hardly really feels like we have had Winter - it's really only been the mornings and evenings where there has been any chill! I have once again left it a little while before updating this blog, so will have to cram a few different things into one posting I think!!!
We had a particularly warm 'Winter' day last Sunday when it reached 28 degrees - so Katy and William decided to put the small tent up in the garden. This was actually the tent that Jon and I were given for Christmas when we were kids, can you believe it - so must be more than 20 years old now. It hadn't been taken out for years, so I was surprised to see that it was still in one piece and of course the children had a lovely time making it their 'home'. 
The following week we had the school Athletics carnival for years 3-6 (Katy) and School Sports Day for years K-2 (William) - both much enjoyed by all although their 'house' won neither event.
This weekend William played his last soccer match for the U7s, although there is still a gala day next Saturday and a presentation day the Saturday after that, so we are not quite finished yet! Ally's Saturday O35s games have now finished, but he's not soccer-free, instead doing 5 a-sides on Thursdays and kickarounds on Sunday mornings!!
On Saturday morning I took Katy and Olivia to Elizabeth Farm, Australia’s oldest European building and surviving homestead (yes, an actual piece of history here in Australia!!!) for a 'kids in the colonial kitchen' event. The house was built in 1793 and is now a unique, ‘access all areas’ house museum - you can wander freely through the old house and garden as if you were its original occupants, with no barriers, locked doors, fragile furniture or untouchable ornaments.
The girls were taken off into the kitchens with about 8 other children, and learned to cook in the old style - they made lovely scones, real lemonade and bread & butter pudding which was later brought out onto the lawns for the parents to share, while the kids played old fashioned games. It really was lovely!
On Sunday the school 'Junior Band' took part in the NSW School Band Festival at the University of NSW in Kensington - so Katy had to get her school uniform on and I drove over there with a friend and her daughter for a 11 o'clock start. They all played very well but the results aren't back yet...
It was such a beautiful day, and we were so close to Bondi, that we decided to head over there after the performance to browse the Bondi Markets and have fish & chips on the beach - if you look at this picture very closely, you'll see two uniform-clad girls in the ocean - they did get some funny looks being in school uniforms, in the waves, on a Sunday!!!
