Ally took the day off work today, and after dropping the children at school and nursery and enjoying a latte and cake in a local cafe, we took a lovely, child-free meander along Palm Beach in the sunshine together. It was nice not to have to think of buckets and spades for a change!
We found ourselves at the Summer Bay Surf Club - Home and Away is filmed here and Palm Beach becomes the fictional Summer Bay. It was fascinating to see where it's all shot, although they weren't filming today.
Later, a planned walk up to the Barrenjoey lighthouse on the headland (fantastic views, apparently) was ditched as we felt it was too hot to exert ourselves, so we he headed instead to the Newport Arms to enjoy a beachside pub lunch and some much needed refreshment!
Home just in time for school pickup and the next stop for all the family... the lovely open-air local pool!
