February catch-up

Our Australian house-hunt appears to have dominated our lives lately, and one of the things to have dropped by the wayside a little has been my blog! So apologies for the 'silence' from this end - and here's a little of what we have been up to in the past couple of weeks:

I went with a group of friends to see Bjorn Again as part of the Sydney 'Twilight at Taronga' series of open air concerts - the setting was the wild surrounds of Taronga Zoo, a beautiful spot to sit as dusk fell, with the Harbour Bridge illuminated in the background and the exotic calls of the animals around us. We took champagne and a delicious picnic and had a wonderful evening boogie-ing to all those Abba hits. Later that same weekend Katy also enjoyed the same experience when she was invited along to the same concert (different night) by Jess and her family - they had an absolute blast too! Wish I had some pics...

Katy had her school swimming carnival last week at Ryde Aquatic Centre (where William had his party the week before) and was thrilled when her house (Bennelong) came out top. Here are some of them waiting for their turn to swim and cheering on their teammates:

William did his school assembly, singing this little song. I don't know if this wobbly video from my 'still' camera will work, but I'll try - he is a doctor at the far right when you are looking at it!! Do ignore all the pictures that pop up afterwards - they weren't meant to be on there!

We've been enjoying some hot, sunny weather and went out for an impromptu lunch at the Flying Fox Cafe on Sunday - it is next to the water and the kids couldn't resist a dip, despite having no swimmers or towels with them...

The night before, we'd enjoyed a Hollywood Party for one of our friend's 40th birthdays - a lovely excuse to get dressed up (here's myself and the birthday girl)!

In between of course we have been doing all the usual activities. Katy has now joined the Wahroonga netball team, restarted piano lessons and is playing flute in the school band, William is doing 'soccer skills' as a warm-up to the football season, and continuing cricket for just a few more weeks until that season ends, while Tom is enjoying preschool and doing really well at his swimming lessons...

Ally of course is excited about the onset of the 035s football season... not that it ever really seemed to end! He is now playing four times a week and is in his element. Me, I'll be very happy once we find a house of our own and can finally then indulge in my OWN favourite hobby - that is, decorating and furnishing and finding all sorts of nice 'things' for the home...
